Art and craft of West Bengal

Art and craft of West Bengal Home Amazing world Art and craft of West BengalAmazing worldArt and craft of West BengalBy Muskan Kumari - February 17, 20205650Facebook Pinterest WhatsApp The map of West Bengal signifies the authenticity of its culture. Before getting into the topic of art and craft, let’s tell you why West Bengal is called west Bengal when it is located on the eastern side of the country, India. So here is the thing, in 1905, Bengal gave birth to 2 new bordered lands, west Bengal (Hindu majority) and east Bengal (Muslim majority). Dividing the state helped the British administration in dividing the nationalistic movement of Bengal towards them under the shadow of religion.West Bengal is like a woman, she never seeks attention, and that drags millions of eyes towards her spellbound charm. A smasher from top to bottom erupts from the snowcapped mountain of Darjeeling to the Sundarbans delta region. It covers all the scenic visions. Like the green fields of Malda, Hazarduari palace at Murshidabad , Shantiniketan, the town of dignity and literature, victoria memorial, and Howrah bridge of Kolkata all add up to make your heart fall for this region. What do you think what makes a city beautiful? Its surroundings, lands, or ancient historical monuments what? For me, the culture is that raw material on which all this stands. If a place does not have its fiery smoke of tradition and heritage, you will not be able to relate to any pattern or aesthetic of that place. Art, culture, and craft is the matriarchy of everything that you see.Art of West Bengal Contents hide 1 Art of West Bengal 2 Folk Dance : 2.1 Gambhira 2.2 Chhau 2.3 Dhunuchi 2.4 Vrita or Brita 3 Folk song 3.1 Baul 3.2 Gharana 3.3 Bhatiyali 4 Folk painting 4.1 Pattachitra 5 Folkcraft 5.1 Kantha 5.2 Clay dolls 5.3 Dokra Art is delicate and sensitive, alike iridescent of butterfly’s wings. So You Think You Want To Be a Digital Nomad

So You Think You Want To Be a Digital Nomad Theyre one of those people that everyone has at least heard of if they dont know one personally.  The digital nomad.  That fortunate soul who wanders the globe in a series of perpetual adventures. And making a great living while doing so.  Who wouldnt want to join their ranks? Its easier than you may think.  Especially if you choose a hybrid approach where you get to  travel a lot but still have firm roots in one place, like Ms Career Girl.  But as with so many things which we only see from the outside, theres a downside to consider before you make the leap.  Here are the hidden costs of the digital nomad lifestyle, and then some expert tips if youre still feeling that urge to hit the road. Digital Nomad(ness) Lost Connections:  No, thats not a missed flight.  Its the loss of the close social interaction with friends and family.  Sure, youll likely meet new friends on the road, but it wont ever be the same.  Itll require a pretty big adjustment to a totally new way of feeding the human need to be part of a family or other social group. Fantasy vs. Reality:  Youve seen the images that get shared and re-shared on social media.  There they are, all wonderfully tan and smiling, sitting on a beach or in some quaint pub with their laptop.  Nice photo op.  Reality is that as often as not theyre either in the corner of a hostel or coffee shop a good piece of the day,  giving their all to hustling enough money to get to the next destination. Stuff Be Gone:  If you think you can adopt the minimalist lifestyle, great, youre that much closer to being a digital nomad.  But for most of us, letting go of your stuff and learning to live with nothing more than you can put in a backpack or suitcase is a challenge.  Think essentials.  Bare essentials.  No, barest of essentials. Those are just the beginning.  Still think its your cup of tea?  Heres some tips garnered from Natalie Sissons new book, The Suitcase Entrepreneur.  If youre really serious about this, Id highly recommend you give it a read.  While its a bit light in depth here and there (it would take a multi-volume set to provide a complete education), itll give you a ton of ideas to consider and some suggestions and insights that will help you make the leap or decide the comforts of home are just fine. The Suitcase Entrepreneurs Tips Natalie Sissons book is like  an intense coaching and reality check session.  Its about creating a life that most fear to venture into.  Whats it take to do it?  Heres some of what she says are the key qualities and characteristics youll need to be successful. A vision for yourself and life that you will fight for Determination, persistence, and the ability to hustle The ability to spend time along and enjoy your own company An independent nature and the strength of character to deal with daily challenges Decision-making and planning capabilities you can continue to build on, and discipline you can act on As with any major life decision, its important to look at both the upside and downside.   As always, if youre willing to pay the prices, the rewards can be great.

How to see the barrier to reaching your goals

How to see the barrier to reaching your goals I am shocked to hear that 60% of people dont know whats holding them back from reaching their goals. So I decide that I will address the topic: The way    you figure out what you should be doing next is that you try stuff. You make bad choices, you try again. This is really standard advice for recent grads. But then, somewhere around age thirty, people start thinking they are above this advice. Like, this would be too slow and annoying for someone who is older than thirty. And, in fact, thats true. Finding out what you should be doing is a slow and annoying process because you have to try stuff. And a lot of times when we get stuck, we think philosophizing will get us out of the rut. But in fact, action gets us out. Thats right. Even for people like INTPs, who  basically create theories in response to anything, even the INTPs have to take action in order to find out if they want to think at a think tank or at a university or a business. There are ten billion blogs written by totally lost twenty-five year olds, but very few written by thirty-five-year-olds; because we often feel stupid and hopeless if we are older and lost as to how to meet goals. So, here we go. Im going to show you my process for dealing with failure to meet a goal:    I am happy when I am posting on my blog and I am unhappy when I am not posting. So I should write more. 1. Ask someone for input. Anyone, really. You have no ideas, you are stuck. And its easy to see other peoples problems. So ask someone what they see in you. I did a coaching session with Christine Carter, author of Raising Happiness. She coaches people on how to reorganize their lives to optimize for happiness. She showed me that the reason Im not writing is because I dont have a routine. I dont put aside time to work every day. I just hope work time happens. And then, when it does, I only work on whats already an emergency. (On a good day. On a bad day I am not even doing the emergencies. I am buying new dishes on eBay and sending photos of them to Melissa.) I knew this. But I didnt really know it because if I really knew it Id have solved the problem before she told it to me. So I only knew it peripherally. I was hoping it wasnt true. 2. Ask a specialist for input. Now that you have a sense of whats wrong, ask someone who specializes in being great in that area. So then I look at what is keeping me from sticking to a schedule. I decided that its that I dont have a plan for what I am doing with my writing. So I called up Ramit Sethi, who does not charge me for coaching, but Ramit is a very transactional guy. So before I tell you what he told me, I need to tell you that he has has this course for teaching people how to negotiate salary. And really, everything he does is good because Ramits gift is hes a promotional genius, and people who have that genius dont waste it on bad product. So hes my go-to guy when I need someone to tell me what I should be doing to make money. Hes really good at telling me to stop selling stuff that is too cheap. This is a good time to tell you that he charges $10,000 for career coaching. Im not kidding. 3. Everything is a grain of salt.   This is a reference to tears, for sure, since I go from not meeting my goals to hating myself to tears that I am a bad role model for my boys because they can see that I hate myself and I am ruining their childhood. See how fast that is? But I meant, actually, salt as in take the advice with a grain of salt. After all you can only be you. So at first I told myself that I should be charging that much. But then I realized that I would not get to talk to as many people. And I love talking to everyone I coach. They are always super-smart and interesting and fun. I think my coaching business is self-selecting: you have to be a go-getter and an innovative thinker about how you manage yourself if you decided to hire me to give you advice. And, I think I would be really bored in my homeschooling life if I didnt get to coach people each day. So Ramit is making a gazillion dollars and he is good at coaching me. I talked to him and I realized that I am focusing on too many things. And I should just sell one or two things and focus on my writing, because I love my writing. Its because of Ramit that I dont tell you to buy my books all the time. Because theres no money in books. Ramit teaches me how to pitch myself relentlessly. And then I dont do it. But he helps me know what I can do to make money and then I get past the barriers to doing what I want to do. 4. After investigation of details, revisit the initial problem.   You know what? Im sick of telling myself I want to write more and then I dont write. The truth is that I write every day. Who knows what Ill write, but I do write every day. Its not what I thought it would look like. I thought I would sit down at a desk like a normal writer, and write five pages each day. Instead, I write when I can write. And I publish when I can publish. And its working out. And I know Ill tell you that Ill die if I dont write. And thats true. And I write. And I am done talking about the barrier to this goal. Because I dont want to be one of the 60% of people who dont know whats holding them back from their goals. 5. Admit there are no barriers. I do not actually believe we have barriers to reaching our goals. We have difficult paths that we are taking, that we believe will lead to our goal. Or we have stupid goals. If you have the wrong goal, your sixth sense will tell you not to start heading toward the goalfor whatever reason. But really, if youre not going toward your goal its a bad goal. So, you could reframe your goal, like I just did, so you feel like a winner. Or you can dump your goal and get another. And maybe youll head toward that one. Or maybe you wont. And sooner or later, the goal will be to get a goal that gets you really moving.

Recruiter Misconceptions, Part 1 - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Recruiter Misconceptions, Part 1 - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Last week I got an email from a job seeker. She said she had been unemployed for 11 months and went on to say  Ihired an executive search firm in month three with the understanding they would fully market me so Id have a job in three months. In this article, I want to point out three misconceptions/fallacies in her  statement so that you do not fall prey to them in your current or future job searches. First, lets examine the statement I hired an executive search firm. Employers hire executive search firms to find them people, not the other way around. It is illegal in many circumstances for a search (recruiting) firm to take money from a job seeker, which leads me to my first point: this job seeker is 11 months into her job search and has paid this company money, yet she still doesnt understand that the company is not a search firm. They appear to be what I refer to in Chapter 11 of Fast Track Your Job Search (and Career!) as a Career Marketing firm. Unlike recruiters, Career marketing companies are businesses that provide fee-based services to individuals seeking to improve their careers. In the rare case where a firm does recruiting for employers as well as providing job search support for individuals (this didnt appear to be the case in her situation), they should tell the job seeker this in the first conversation. The bottom line is that recruiters dont work for job seekers and, in almost all cases, they do not help them get jobs. Next, lets examine with the understanding they would fully market me. For the most part, recruiters do not market candidates. There are occasional exceptions to this rule, but most of the time they secure job orders to fill and then they hunt down (search for) candidates that fit the job order requirements not the other way around. In those rare instances when recruiters DO market candidates, trust me when I tell you that saying they will fully market a job seeker is a big overstatement. Why? Because recruiters are taught in their training (I know because I have been through it) to market candidates as a way of getting the attention of companies that have potential to become clients. Once they start talking with the company and find out that the candidate is not quite what the company wants, which is generally the case, they will drop the candidate like a hot potato and start hunting for a candidate that fits what the hiring manager wants to hire. In effect, they use the marketing of most candidates as bait, a conversation starter. There are exceptions to this, but not very many. Finally, lets examine the end of her statement, that Id have a job in three months. No reputable company can honestly promise people they will have a job in a certain period of time three months, six months, twelve months, or whatever. A recruiter will not make this type of claim. If a career marketing firm makes such a claim, it is typically used to sway the job seeker to pay them money. So, what we have is three misconceptions all in one sentence. Which brings me to the bigger concept that job seekers need to hear, even though they may not want to hear it: for the most part, job seekers are ignorant of how the current job market works and thus susceptible to false claims that can cost them money and false information that can delay their progress. Like everyone on earth, including me, they dont know what they dont know. Forewarned is forearmed. I hope this information will help you more effectively guide your actions, improve your career results, and sensitize you to the need to become a more informed job seeker.

How to Stop Your Mind from Wandering - CareerMetis.com

How to Stop Your Mind from Wandering The brains of human beings are questing, curious things, and it’s only natural that our minds wander from time to time.Sticking to a task for an extended period of time isn’t something the neurons in our brains are good at doing, with recent studies showing that they can onlyfunction with their own energy for 12 secondsbefore needing to refuel, which leads to a loss of focus and competing demands for our attention. However natural this might be, having a wandering mind still causes problems for us, and researchers have found that regularly losing concentration has a negative impact on mood.evalLuckily, there are steps you can take to limit the times your mind wanders off on its own, so doing something like adding a deliberate distraction â€" like putting on some instrumental music in the background â€" can get rid of the space in your head for other distractions. In the same way, giving yourself daydream breaks can also help you be more focused when you need to be, especially if yo u use the time to do something productive like using a brain-training app or even doodling.A major cause of wandering minds can be the things that stress us out, so try to clear your mind of these things using visualization techniques, leaving you free to concentrate on what’s important.Caffeine can be a useful tool for staying focused, as studies have shown that it increases physiological arousal, making you less likely to be distracted, though of course, making yourself frequent cups of coffee can be a distraction in itself. Chewing gum can work well too, especially spearmint flavor.Breathing techniques and meditation are also good ways to exercise your mind by cleansing distracting thoughts, and you can add in a naam yoga hand practice to really increase your mind’s focus. When these techniques fail and your mind does start to wander, be sure to notice that it is happening and try to identify common triggers for it, which will help you avoid it happening as much in the future. Just noticing it is normally enough to get your mind back on track.Hopefully these will help you start to get control over your wandering mind and find the discipline that is currently lacking, and you can find out more from this infographic from On Stride Financial.evalIf you can stay focused long enough to take it all, of course.Infographic Credit : Onstride

Job Search Marketing Toolkit - Networking - CareerAlley

Job Search Marketing Toolkit - Networking - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. Networking for job search is under-rated (and it certainly is not the Psychic Network). For some of us (like me) there is nothing I like less than bothering a former co-worker, friend, relative or business associate to let them know that I am out of work /or looking for a job. There are, of course, many people who dont have a problem with this. There are a number of ways you can leverage your network without calling people as the first step (although this is not a bad way to start). Business social networks have been covered in a number of previous posts (quick links are listed below), so I wont cover that topic again in this post. I will, however, provide some basic Networking concepts and methods. But first some quick links to business social networks: Leveraging Social Networks for Career Management Whos Your Daddy? Leverage Your Job Search Network Leveraging Diversity Networks in your Job Search 6 Tips for Expanding Your Job Search Network The first myth of Networking is that you must have a Network of hundreds of people to have any hope of finding a job (take a look at LinkedIn these days). While the larger your Network the better your chances, it is really the quality of your Network that will improve your job search prospects. 7 Biggest Networking Myths Facts This article, from Linked covers some of the misconceptions regarding Networking. This is a very helpful article for those of you (like me) who are terrified about Networking or who just dont understand the benefits. There are only 7 and they are relatively short so you should take the time to read it. Youve got Networking on your list (everyone tells you that this is a must do) and you really do mean to get to it (because you feel like you are missing a trick and you feel guilty), but you just cant seem to get around to it read on. Top Ten Excuses Why People Dont Network This article, on Certified Career Coaches, sounds like the read my mind for the article. This is just about every excuse I can think of (and have thought of). If this sounds familiar, read the article because it turns the excuses into actions for the right way to leverage your Network. Okay, so now Ive covered the myths and the excuses, but what about the best practice for Networking? There are plenty of ideas out there, and most of them are good (and some of them are a bit wacky). So now lets cover the how to. Successful Job Search Networking How to Use Job Search Networking to Find a Job Another article from About.com, gives some helpful advice (as well as the elusive statistic on the percentage of jobs found by networking). Of course the days are gone where the only ways to network were by phone or in person. Email (according to the article) is a perfectly acceptable way to network (excellent, I dont actually have to speak with anyone). Certainly a worthwhile article to read and it includes additional links to relevant information. What is Networking? One of my personal favorites for advice and resources on job search, the Riley Guide provides this article. It tells you what networking is (and isnt) as well as how to use the Internet, Netiquette, where to network, making contact and additional links to relevant information. We are always eager to hear from our readers. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or suggestions regarding CareerAlley content. Good luck in your search,Joey Google+
